‘Threshold’ describe that point when we enter nature: a portal. The piece asks the viewer to immerse themselves in this floating forest and enjoy it’s complexity and celebrate the natural order. These freestanding landscapes of paper and bamboo invite the viewer step into nature with the promise of discovery. The textures of the forest, sky and pathways are translated through the domestic language of sewing and weaving. Cross stitched branches, woven clouds and knotted foliage reduce the visual chaos of the scene into repeated patterns, attempt to bring order and understanding to the pieces. Inspired by haptic poetry the materials used reflect the fabric of the forest and it’s frailty.
